We have had quite a week here at the Penguin house! We started trying to buy a specific minivan on Monday. Here we are at Friday having JUST closed the deal! Woohoo! You can see my hubby driving it up the hill on it's maiden voyage home from the dealership. No, we didn't buy a new van. It's a 2005 Nissan Quest base model with 71,000 miles on it. It is big enough for a growing family and kooky dog. I plan to do a lengthy post or a series of posts on car buying tips that we have learned in our last few vehicle transactions.
In the process of buying this vehicle, we discovered the van had a check engine light so we negotiated to have it serviced before purchase. Wednesday we were to take posession but found out that the service was not done yet - they had to wait for a part and we could get the van on Friday. That same Wednesday, my husband had driven his car to work so he could take it to trade in after work. On the way to work, HIS check engine light came on! Without going in to tons of detail, he eventually got the light to go off and made the trade with no problems.
